Blog : 28th August

Hiya!
I'm Kate and this is my A Level Media blog. I must apologise for not posting a lot but I have been very busy, so here is my long huge blog about the past summer and all the experiences I had!

First, Im going to tell you a little a bit about moi!(I didnt take french as a gcse for a start!) I'm 16 and I'm just about to start my A Levels and one of those is Media. I chose Media for two main reasons, one- I love being creative, its my way of putting all of my emotion in to a song or in to a story( One of my passions!) and Two- The Media affects us everyday even if it is sumblinal and subtle also Media is a subject that is forever changing, it doesnt often stay the same.

So, the first thing I thought Id blog about ( it may turn in to a rant) is Glastonbury. Every year between May and July hundreds of thousands of people flock to festivals all around the world including the World Famous and not to mention local Glastonbury. The number of people who go is the equivalent to the population of Newport, which is a lot! Each person pays over £200 for a weekend ticket, thats at least forty hours of work for someone like me and thats a lot to spend it on. On the other hand, you pay at least £30/£40 to see a band perform on their own at normals gigs so esentially, you are getting what you pay for! Over 40 live acts perform at Glasto and therefore it seems like its worth it. I will admit that I did consider buying a ticket but I wanted to know why. Why would I pay a lot of money for a festival that I didn't really want to go to? I'll tell you why. When you tell people that you went to a certain festival they all go "ahhhhh" in amazement! Glasto has a social stigma attached to it that attracts people of all ages! Personally, after summing up pros and cons, I figured it would be cheaper and better to pitch a tent in my back garden, bung the radio on and invite a few friends over. Perfect!

I don't usually watch television but since im taking Media, I figured I'd watch a bit more for the adverts. I watch most of my programmes online as its easier and avoids all the irritating adverts about Loans and Compensation claims! One advert caught my attention but it wasnt shown on British Television.. It uses humour to grab the attention of the audience and after watching it , I did have a quick peak at the site. Heres the link but basically its advertising a comparing website (its the same as go compare , only slightly less annoying)

That concludes my first blog. I probably will post again tommorow about Facebook and social networking sites.
